About the Club
Coogee Surf Life Saving Club is a volunteer organisation, and was founded in May 1907. Originally called The Foundation of the Coogee Surf Life Saving Brigade, the club was formed to assist with people getting into difficulty and even drowning at Coogee Beach. The first squad went into serious training to ensure qualified lifesavers would be available on the beach in the spring of 1907.
To this day, our surf lifesavers commit to serving the community and keeping the public safe. Our Patrolling season starts in September, and goes through to April. We patrol every weekend, and all public holidays. Coogee is also home to the Coogee Island Challenge every November and April, and the Coogee Minnows, our very own Nippers program. The Coogee SLSC Clubhouse is located at the south end of the beach and offers a real sense of community spirit. Joining the Club offers a great way to meet new people, support the community, keep fit and have fun. Coogee Beach is a beautiful spot, and it’s sometimes hard to believe we are only 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of central Sydney. There are many activities to enjoy in our little slice of paradise. Spot a whale or two during migration season, see a pod of dolphins swim by, or take a stroll on the coastal walk and enjoy an array of popular cafes, restaurants and pubs. |

Strategic Plan 2019-2024
With a Club focussed on looking to the future, with a strong and sustainable approach we now have our new strategic direction, through the establishment of a new Purpose Statement and recognition of our Club Values. - Strategic Plan
As the lifesaving environment continues to change, and with our membership at well over 2,000, the focus of this document is very much centered around our members. It touches on respect and integrity, diversity, transparency, retention and community engagement – all of which ensures our Club’s well-being and progressive nature. |
Building Upgrade Video
Our iconic Coogee Surf Life Saving Club is set for a major upgrade and facelift in 2020
The upgrade will overhaul the façade of the building, provide a new entry way, a new east-facing deck with glass balustrades as well as a reconfigured interior providing more useable space for the club for training, events and functions. Coogee Surf Life Saving Club was founded in 1907, and is one of Australia’s oldest surf clubs. The Coogee nippers is one of the largest in Australia providing local kids with positive and healthy activities while building their water safety skills. The Project is slated to commence on site works in early April 2020 to minimise impact on the work of the club. The project is also funded by a $2.58M grant from the Office of Local Government Stronger Communities Fund, a $300,000 grant from the NSW Department of Industry Office of Responsible Gambling and a $720,000 Grant from Randwick Council Randwick Council will manage the construction project in close consultation with the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club |
