Skills Maintenance

Picture
Every member who patrols and/or competes is required to complete Skills Maintenance (formerly known as Proficiency) by 31st December of each year and keep their awards up to date. Members will not be eligible to patrol or compete if their award/s have expired.

It is the responsibility of each member to ensure they complete all aspects of the annual Skills Maintenance.
These are:
  1. Pay your membership fees for that season
  2. Complete the Online Theory Skills Maintenance sessions via e-Learning (can be accessed via the Members Hub)
  3. Complete in-person Skills Maintenance session

SLSNSW will be introducing Lifesaving CPR this season – an evidence-based, simplified, and standardised approach to improve survival from cardiac arrest on and off the beach. TAFs (Trainers, Assessors & Facilitators) and endorsed delegates will be updated during their pre-season meetings, with the changes being integrated into skills maintenance for patrolling members.

Please contact the Proficiency Supervisor for more information: [email protected]

Patrol Substitutions:

Members are encouraged to use the Patrol Substitution function in the Members Area portal to arrange Subs.  The system benefits both Members, Patrol Captains and Officers:
  1. Members can advertise their need for a sub to all members of the club who currently patrol
  2. Members can track who they have confirmed they have substituted for.
  3. Substitutions automatically update in the Patrol Logs
  4. Patrol Captains get emailed a list of the patrol team that includes any subs
Patrol substitutions enable members to indicate when they will be unable to attend a patrol therefore inviting other club members to sub for them.  Club members can also accept to sub for another member who is unable to patrol. In addition, you can also ask another member to swap patrols with you, and then register that swap on the portal.

IMPORTANT:  Please contact your Patrol Captain if you cannot make your rostered patrol – we can then take action to ensure the patrol is not left short
