Becoming a Lifesaver - Junior Development
Program
The specially designed program progressively introduces knowledge and skills, learning outcomes through lessons that are tailored to each of the age groups.
Each age group has its own individual set of lessons – between 10 and 16 depending on the age group. These lessons cover a varied spectrum of skills and knowledge from understanding the local environment and what we can do to make it better, safety in the water, to board and surf swim skills, First Aid and CPR skills, radio and communication skills, and Patrol Management. The program pathways has an outcome being the SLSA Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC), which members can begin training towards from the age of 13. This program builds on the skills of the Nippers learnt each season, with the culmination of their skills in the U14’s. Once the SRC is achieved they are then a qualified Australian Surf Lifesaver, and can then Patrol at Coogee Beach as a Coogee Surf Lifesaver. |
