Our boat crews are in full swing with crews attending the first two rounds of the new Sydney Branch Surf Boat Series.
Coogee hosted the first round at Yarra Bay which was an exciting new Skins format. Results were 1st U/19 Women’s Boat Race – The Havachats. Our two Women’s Reserve Grade Crews rowed well to both qualify for the Open Women’s A Final with the DMG’s claiming 5th and the COGS (Coogee Old Girls) claiming 6th. Our Open Men’s Crew bagged a 2nd place in the Open Men’s B final. Last Saturday saw the crews head to Wanda for Round 2 – which was raced in a round robin 4 rounds format with the crew with the most points declared the winner. Coogee went well with Women Reserve grade with the DMG’s dominating with 3 wins and a 2nd, the good old COGS came in at 3rd place. Smithy’s young girls, The Havachats, won their division also and now sit on top of the point score for their division. Next carnival, Round 3, is at South Maroubra with 6 crews starting. Thanks to Greg Smart who took some fantastic photos at both carnivals. Congratulations to Reserve Grade Men’s crew member Cameron “Uppy” Upton on his marriage last Saturday.
