Last weekend our Coogee Bluey's were given the opportunity to take a trip down to Corrimal SLSC and had a blast!
We thoroughly enjoyed the bus ride down, ten pin bowling, dinner, games of touch football in the park, hanging with friends, watching Avatar and then sleeping in the clubhouse on Saturday before patrol on Sunday. With a contingent of 27 young people and 6 supporting adults, we patrolled from 9am to 6pm on the beach. In Corrimal's completely different beach conditions and patrol setup to Coogee, our young people took turns patrolling from the water, sand, IRB and ATV. This involved plenty of paddling, bogey boarding, bodysurfing, swimming, crewing in the IRB, education from the sand as well as some delicious lunch, dinner & snack breaks (supplied generously by Chish and Fips). All this was achieved whilst keeping the beach safe and supporting a struggling small club. It was an excellent weekend of lifesaving and fun, and everyone involved is already looking forward to another trip like it!
