Education Information
Coogee Surf Life Saving Club has a long tradition of excellence in Training and Education. We have a dedicated and skilled pool of instructors ensuring that candidates receive a high standard of training both in the classroom and on the beach.
In the 2024/25 season, we ran eight Bronze Medallion courses, with 158 new members gaining their Bronze Medallion, the entry-level award that allows you to be a patrolling member of the Surf Club. In addition, we trained over 77 SRCs (Junior members). Our members also undertook many other higher award courses throughout the season, and Coogee SLSC once again took out the Sydney Branch Award of Excellence for most awards per season.
Once you have gained your Bronze Medallion, there are a number of other awards you can do, from Advanced Resuscitation Techniques to IRB driver, with the Gold Medallion being the highest award.
Coogee SLSC has over 700 highly trained Surf Life Savers, who patrol Coogee beach via
fifteen designated Patrols from September to April.
Many of our Surf Life Savers also have a number of higher awards, covering First Aid, Aquatic Rescue, Beach and Patrol Management, Side by Side Vehicle, IRB and Advanced Lifesaving Skills.
