Membership
Fees for the 2021/2022 season are now due. Applications will only be accepted with completed membership payment. Pending renewals will only be accepted with payment of membership fees. Fees received after 30 September 2021 will attract a late fee of $25.
You will note that due to the ongoing pandemic, the Management Committee has elected to continue ongoing financial support of our Long Service and Active Members by subsidising membership fees for the 2021/2022 season.
Life, 75 Year and 50 Year members are respectfully reminded that they must complete a membership renewal form, or renew via their Members Portal, each season to ensure continuing service.
*Currently, the club is not taking on any new Associate or Social memberships, but if that occurs, there is a $100 Associate Joining Fee (once only).

Becoming a Patrolling Member of Coogee SLSC
Becoming an active member of the club, you need to have a current SLSA Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate qualification.
Members aged 15 and over train for a Bronze Medallion; this 6-8 week course teaches surf skills, resuscitation, rescue techniques and much more. Members aged 13 and 14 learn basic rescue skills in a 6 week course and are awarded a Surf Rescue Certificate. The Club runs a number of courses throughout the year to train new members. Information nights are held prior to the commencement of each Bronze Medallion course where you can find out more. |
Bronze Medallion Course Overview
This course provide participants with the skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. This is the core award to be a surf lifesaver at Coogee or anywhere else in Australia. You will learn surf skills, resuscitation techniques, basic first aid, rescue techniques and much more. The course is typically run over a six or seven week period with sessions on Tuesdays & Thursdays 7pm-9pm, Saturday 9am-11am and Sunday 11am-1pm.
The Bronze Medallion Course creates qualified Surf Lifesavers who are then required to participate in Patrols on the beach on a Roster basis. The SLS Bronze Medallion Course requires the following: Pre-qualification 400m swim in the ocean in 9 mins or under Bronze Medallion Assessment requirements:
This course does require a certain amount of fitness and time commitment. |

Applying to Join a Course
Information nights are held prior to the commencement of the course, and applications for each course close shortly after the information night. A completed application form must be submitted to the Club via the link on the Bronze Course Date Summary. Successful applicants will be advised as soon as possible after the closing date for applications.
