Our surf rowers headed south to Wanda for the Australian Surf Rowers League Open. Facing off against the best crews from across Australia and New Zealand, the Boat Team delivered one of our most successful campaigns to date. With 8 crews competing over four days, 6 out of our 7 Open crews qualified for finals day. The consistency across the divisions saw Coogee finish 13th rank overall. The standout performance of the weekend belonged to the U23 Female Havachats. Swept by Dave Smith, the crew showed incredible grit to navigate the heats and secure a spot in the final. After a blistering start and a tactical turn, they jostled for the lead on the runners home, narrowly missing out on gold to North Cottesloe in a photo finish. A well-deserved silver medal! Our Masters crews set the tone early on Thursday, with the 200 yrs Male M&Ms rowing to claim the bronze medal. A huge thank you to the army of supporters who braved the wind at Wanda, and to Greg Smart for capturing the action through his lens all weekend.
