Aussies Surfing Highlights

This year's Aussies surfing team was bigger and better than ever and if you don't believe me believe Coogee's legendary status of the highest scoring club in its field. People might say Coogee doesn't get any waves but it sure does seem to produce some bloody good surfers (actually sometimes does produce surf like it did last week wow).

​The touring team consisted of Lachlan Hume, Finn Wilkie, Gus Folsom, George Messiter, Michelle Donoghoe, Tony Lemo and Jimmy Azar. Finn, George, Michelle and Jimmy all earned Gold medals in their respective age groups for the shortboard event with Finn also gaining a bronze in the age group above in the Opens. Worth noting Finn’s narrow miss of a third medal in the Open Longboard final receiving 4th place as did Tony Lemo receive the same position in his own respective age shortboard final. 
 
Very special mention to George and Jimmy who have won Gold for the last three consecutive years, an outstanding and legendary achievement! 
 
Highlights on top of the above-mentioned accolades include Wilkie snapping his hired longboard mid heat and still making it through, Gussie returning to the team and surfing better than ever after a small hiatus, Lemo returning to home soil and of course Lachie's golden locks.
