A Message from Leah Stewart

​To Ben and everyone at Coogee Surf Life Saving Club,

I wanted to say a big thank you for the Community Swim and the BBQ. I am currently dictating this from hospital but I’ve seen videos of the day, and couldn’t get over how many people were there in support.

This has been the hardest month of my life, and of my family’s. But the outpouring of love and support from the Coogee community has helped us through it. Knowing that the community I love is behind us has made a frightening time feel a lot less lonely.

Seven of my family members have taken time off work to care for me, and my daughter and the support from the community has given us much needed assistance to focus on my recovery and looking after August. I’m making good progress, and I have no doubt all the love and good wishes coming our way has something to do with it.

Thank you also for the open invitation to drop in. One I’m recovered I’d love to come down and say a huge thank you face to face.
