Migration 2 Surf

Our Mission: Building confidence and removing fear to connect migrant communities to our beaches and surf safely

Following the successful pilot project last season, this year Coogee SLSC will be offering a free introduction to surf lifesaving for adult migrants who have moved to Australia from countries that do not have a strong beach/surf culture. The course will combine theoretical knowledge with basic practical water safety skills. “This project has been developed to give people knowledge and confidence in Sea/Surf conditions. Our main objective is to improve surf awareness skills amongst this group such as swimming between the flags, understanding rips, waves and types of beaches. Armed with the knowledge we hope more and more people will feel more connected with the Surf and make the most of the great beaches Sydney has on offer. We plan on running 2 courses this season with dates to be confirmed
