Membership

Membership is open to everyone from the age of 7 upwards.

Members aged 15 and over start with training for their Bronze Medallion, this 6 week course teaches surf skills, resuscitation, rescue techniques and much more. Members aged 13 and 14 learn basic rescue skills in a 6 week course and are awarded a Surf Rescue Certificate. Both of these awards qualify members to do surf patrols.

Information Nights

In order to become an active member of the club, you need to complete a bronze medallion course. Information nights will be scheduled for season 2011/12 prior to the commencement of each Bronze Medallion course. We meet at the Clubhouse from 6.30pm. The dates for the 2011 bronze medallion courses are:

BRONZE 1: Spring Bronze
Information Night: Sunday 28 August, 2011
Commences: Tuesday 6 September, 2011
Part A (Assessment): Wednesday 19 October, 2011
Part B (Assessment): Sunday 23 October, 2011

BRONZE 2: Christmas Bronze
Information Night: Sunday 23 October, 2011
Commences: Tuesday 1 November, 2011
Part A (Assessment): Wednesday 7 December, 2011
Part B (Assessment): Sunday 11 December, 2011

LIGHTNING BRONZE: Intensive school holiday course
Commences: Friday 6 January, 2012
Training Session: each day until assessment
Part A (Assessment): Wednesday 11 January, 2012
Part B (Assessment): Sunday 15 January, 2012

BRONZE 3: Summer Bronze
In formation Night: Sunday 22 January, 2012
Commences: Tuesday 31 January, 2012
Part A (Assessment): Wednesday 7 March, 2012
Part B (Assessment): Sunday 11 March, 2012 

 

Minnows

Members aged 7 to 13 are know as Junior Activities members or "nippers" and learn surf survival skills with an emphasis on fun. See the Coogee Minnows Website

Over 35's who do not want to patrol as an active member can join as an Associate Member.

 

Activities

Club Activities include fitness training, competitions, events, beach patrols, and social functions. Members also have access to the clubs facilities including showers, gymnasium  and upstairs "Ocean Room" for drinks and socialising.
